For the Vacant graphic novel, hopefully coming out sometime this summer, I would like guest art to appear at the back of the book. I already asked my Facebook friends if they would like to participate and a few people were interested. I am going to go ahead and open it up to the floor now.

Anyone can submit a piece. It can be a illustration or comic book page. The maximum is two pages, but try and keep it to one. That way I can get as many people into the comic as I can. if there is a huge turn out and a lot of people submit pages, then when July 15th rolls around, I will figure out a fair way of picking out which pages to print.

For those who can’t draw: I don’t care if you draw stick figures. No really. I really don’t care. You will have an equal chance of getting in. So just have fun with it.

For those who can’t think of what to draw here are some prompts I thought of:

1. What is a day at The Eye like? You may use one of the Vacant characters or create your own.

2. Each character has a chore on the ship. What are their chores? Hayze never does any. Why?

3. Jin and Hayze go to a pet store. Draw what happens. Hint: Hayze has a soft spot for small cute animals. It’s a secret of his. Sort of.

4. H~~ayze is a terrible driver. Draw.~~

5. If Hayze or Jin were forced to sleep at each other’s house, what would happen?

6. Hayze has an extreme fear of Spiders. Draw.

7. Aex goes on a blind date. Draw.

Well, that was unexpected.

So… The Way Station, the bar with the TARDIS, is about 4 blocks from my apartment and I go there several times a week generally. I have friends there and usually, during the week it’s quiet(ish) enough for me to sit in my “nook” (back next to the TARDIS) and write.

On Sundays they show movies or TV shows and when Doctor Who is airing, they show the previous night’s episode. Today they were showing last night’s season finale… aaaaand we had some surprise visitors.

Holy cow did everyone’s teeth hit the floor.

I really hope everyone was on their best behavior and Matt and Steven didn’t feel too overwhelmed. Also, apologies to Sue Vertue on behalf of the fan who forgot herself and basically followed Sue into the TARDIS/bathroom. We are all beside ourselves to host you at our favorite bar and hope we weren’t too much for you. But then, I suppose, if you decide to visit a known Doctor Who bar when they are showing the season finale in order to watch the screening, I imagine you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Anyway, thank you so much for coming. It’s personal things like this that make such a HUGE fandom feel so small and special.

Hold on a minute. Isn’t this the bar in New York City? I’ve been here.

VACANT on hiatus

Okay so I was going to wait for this, but I am going to go ahead and make the announcement. VACANT is going to be on a short hiatus for the next few months.

The number 1. reason is because I am trying to balance jobs and the comic. This is exhausting me, and I desperately need a break. That and I want to use a different method to try and get this work done for the graphic novel. Which I still want to have printed by SPX (even though I highly doubt this is possible).

So there probably won’t be another update for a while. Sorry, guys! This isn’t a very good time to freeze the comic. I gotta do what I gotta do, though.

Let’s say your character needs to go underground for a while. Maybe they’re guilty of something, maybe they’re being hunted- I didn’t stop to ask. Where will they be hiding out? Will they be alone, or will they ask someone to hide them? What’s their plan past hiding?

He would probably hijack one of the Eye ships, forcing Ari-A or Ari-vita to fly him to some planet where he will never be seen again. I imagine he would become some sort of jungle man. Like an alien tarzan but more extreme.

Or better yet. He’d become blue Rambo of the forest.

I got everything I wanted for Free Comic Book Day! Atomic Robo, Princeless, and Mouse Guard are always really fun, Molly Danger I’m really excited for and very happy that the KickStarter worked out, and The Steam Engines of Oz just looked neat.

And then I bought some more Skullkickers, because we always need more skullkicking in our lives.

I saw a good number of kids with their parents in the comic shop, including some families who clearly knew exactly what comics they were looking for and/or were super excited to see some Doctor Who toys in the shop. It was pretty fantastic.

I made a new store for VACANT here.

Three new prints have been added: Silent Forest, Crimson Sheets, and Touche’. They are all printed on high resolution, glossy paper. They’re a pretty decent size, so don’t worry. You would recent a little tiny print.

Also think about it. Hayze on your bedroom wall. Hm? HmMMMMMMMMM? (I’m just kidding. Maybe. I mean the poster is called Crimson sheets. Would match the theme and all)
